On May 18, 2006, NFL Player Jerome McDougle hosted a press conference to announce the First Annual Jerome McDougle Youth Football Clinic to benefit the Miami Beach and Miami PALs.

Jerome, a South Florida native, played for the Unviersity of Miami and was the number one pick for the Philidelphia Eagles. "Last year, I unfortunately was the victim of a carjacking and shooting by young men who, maybe, with the proper guidance from organizations like PAL, would not have been involved in this criminal activity," said McDougle. "While recovering, I decided to do my part to repay our community by getting involved with the youth of our future."

At the conference, McDougle presented a check for $950. Many other NFL players from around the country have agreed to participate in the clinic to be held on June 24, 2006. As part of the clinic the players will speak on and provide written anti-gang, anti-smoking and anti-drug information, while at the same time, speak about the positive relationships with police officers.
